Ignite Fair Powered by Volunteer Toronto

Ignite Fair 2021 was our largest annual volunteer fair yet! Held over Gather Town to facilitate a virtual experience that is as engaging as possible, the fair took place over two weekends, on October 9th and 16th, connecting more than 500 students with 90 non-profit and student-led organizations. Students learned about opportunities offered by organizations operating in a variety of fields, from environmental sustainability to disabilities and accessibility. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our partner, Volunteer Toronto, for bringing their expertise and resources to help make this event possible.

VIRTUAL IGNITE FAIR 2022

Thank you to everyone who attended IGNITE FAIR 2022!

We hope you had fun, found a volunteer opportunity, and learned more about volunteerism!

In 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ignite Fair was held virtually through Gathertown and Zoom. This year, Ignite Fair opened to Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) and youth all across Ontario and operated virtually through Pheedloop.

The fair ran on November 5, 2022, with 70+ NPOs and Youth organizations, and 900+ registrants.

SPARK SESSIONS

Ignite Fair’s Organizing Committee recognizes the gap between elementary students and the world of volunteerism. With countless students desperately trying to fulfill their 40 hour Ontario Secondary School requirement in their senior years of high school, it has become vital to show them all that volunteering has to offer, starting from a younger age.

To meet this demand, we launched Spark Sessions to equip middle school students with the knowledge and tools necessary to begin their volunteering journeys!

Despite the ongoing pandemic, this virtual workshop was delivered to 14 classes and 350+ students from our May pilot and eventually 19 classes and 400+ students from our June Spark Sessions.

Students received an introduction to volunteerism encapsulating advice for adapting to the virtual volunteer environment, a collection of resources, and ways to find volunteer positions that would further develop their personal interests.

We are beyond grateful for all the teachers who welcomed us with open arms into their virtual classrooms across the York, Halton, and Peel District School Boards.

If YOU would like Ignite Fair’s annual Spark Sessions to be delivered to YOUR elementary school, be sure to keep an eye out for sign ups in March and April of 2022!

We can’t wait to host future Spark Sessions and meet all of you!
